AEC was contracted to perform a fuel oil and boiler upgrade for the Port of Portland. The scope of work consisted of decommissioning two 30,000 gallon fuel tanks then replacing them with two upgraded, double walled, 30,000 gallon fiberglass coated tanks. AEC also provided new suction pumps, underground and aboveground piping for the boilers and tanks as well as supplying and installing a portable fuel polishing system. As part of the boiler upgrade, AEC installed a temporary boiler condensate system with associated piping, a new condensate tank, a blow down tank and heat recovery system. After the new system was installed and tested, the temporary system was removed. In the process of providing a new boiler blow down system AEC also provided a new chemical feed system for the boilers. All new controls to run the chemical, blow down and fuel system was also provided for this upgrade.
