Project Development Assistant

We are seeking an organized and self-motivated Project Development Assistant to support our proposals, estimating, and project management teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing general administrative / office support related to bid tracking, estimating, and project kick off functions. This individual will report to the Business Development Manager and support approximately seven (9) Project Managers as well as the Proposals and Marketing Coordinator.


  • Search for bid opportunities online and through various databases;
  • Obtain and prepare bid documentation as required in solicitations and Requests for Proposals (RFP’s);
  • Prepare and maintain bid and project files including creating bid binders and project binders;
  • Document control functions including data entry, requesting bonds, obtaining signatures, completing bid forms, and preparing bid submission documents;
  • Facilitate questions regarding bids and projects and researches information as needed;
  • Record and distribute minutes from weekly Project Manager meetings;
  • Organize and maintain the electronic filing and tracking systems;
  • Provide assistance to Project Managers as needed (acquiring permits, submittals etc);
  • Coordinating the clerical needs of the Project Managers (i.e., fax and email distribution) ; and
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Business Development Manager to assist in the overall success of the company.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience in office administration functions;
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook);
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro;
  • Fast, accurate typing and 10-key experience;
  • Ability to work independently in an exceedingly fast paced environment;
  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of advanced bidding and estimating processes;
  • Must be able to multi-task and manage time efficiently;
  • Capable of meeting concurrent deadlines for multiple individuals; and
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary

Health & Safety Director

We are seeking a qualified Health & Safety Director to provide direction and leadership of AEC’s Health & Safety operations. The individual in this role is ultimately responsible for ensuring that AEC continues to improve our EHS performance while maintaining compliance with all Local, State & Federal Environmental & Safety Regulations. This successful candidate will report to the Operations Manager and support approximately seven (9) Project Manager’s.


  • Responsible for ensuring safety-related regulatory compliance issues are met;
  • Develops the company’s annual EHS goals and implements process and procedures to meet those goals;
  • Preparation, implementation and updating of company safety policies and standards;
  • Advises the company of regulatory changes with which they must comply;
  • Prepares written environmental, safety & health programs, plans and policies;
  • Identifies company training needs and develops/coordinates EHS training programs;
  • Performs process reviews, including process hazard analyses, operator training, analysis of environmental regulatory impacts, etc.;
  • Implements controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards;
  • Guides crew members selection of appropriate personal protective equipment;
  • Implements the company’s hazard communication program;
  • Coaches and mentors staff on environmental and safety matters;
  • Monitors lost‐time injuries/illnesses and worker’s compensation claims;
  • Conducts and reports on injury/accident investigations and OSHA reporting;
  • Reviews injury/illness and non‐injury incidents (including near misses), investigates and reports, and performs root cause analyses to identify causes and prevent future incidents;
  • Promotes safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters and other training programs;
  • Conducts on site safety inspections; and
  • Maintains corporate safety library (e.g., videos, regulations, MSDS, reference manuals), including safety content for the company website.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an environmental science, engineering or industrial hygiene discipline is required. A Masters Degree is a plus;
  • A strong working knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and other Federal, State & Local regulations;
  • Proven experience in leading and driving safety initiatives and strategies which improve workplace safety;
  • Ability to motivate others to achieve desired results;
  • Must be a self‐driven and resourceful professional with the ability to solve problems;
  • An ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‐paced environment; and
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary.

Occasional out‐of‐area and overnight travel is expected in this position (15%).

Heavy Equipment Operator

We are seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to perform safe equipment operations on large construction projects. The successful candidates must have proven experience operating and maintaining heavy equipment (bulldozers, excavators, loaders etc.) and be able to follow applicable safety rules, regulations, guidelines, and policies as well as demonstrate an ability to comprehend detailed plans and specifications. Individuals chosen for this position will report to the project-specific Site Superintendent.

Occasional out‐of‐area and overnight travel is expected in this position (approx. 25%).


We are seeking Laborers to perform various physical labor-related activities on heavy construction projects. The successful candidates must be physically fit to perform tasks on construction sites as well as be able to demonstrate a strong work ethic and ability to follow instructions quickly and proficiently. The successful candidates must be able to safely operate small construction and labor tools and will be required to follow strict safety protocols. Candidates are required to show proof of a valid driver’s license. Individuals chosen for this position will report to the project-specific Site Superintendent.

Occasional out‐of‐area and overnight travel is expected in this position (approx. 25%).
